Microbiology

The study of microscopic organisms, such as bacteria, viruses, archaea, fungi and protozoa is known as Microbiology. Under this discipline fundamental research on the biochemistry, physiology, cell biology, ecology, evolution and clinical aspects of microorganisms are done.

The Microbiology unit of Shekhar Hospital is a sophisticatedsection of the hospital in which all samples from wards, OT, ICU, dialysis are brought and cultures are grown for maintaining aseptic conditions in the hospital. The unit, time-to-time tests food and water samples along with other body fluids of the patients. Blood cultures are performed regularly with diagnosis of typhoid and paratyphoid.
